The original BL was set in a Fantasy 100 Year War period .It was rather fiddley & the figs were so-so,they made the Dwarves
(which were suppose to be Scottish troops) look like clowns (I have never forgiven Days of Wonder). Days of Wonder could never come through with different Factions & the few small pack expansions were just different troop types that were in the bases game(they had Dwarves riding Cows!!!!!(Absolutely no respect for Dwarf culture) plus they had underprice the base game & when it sold out they could never afford do another edition. Days of Wonder sold the Game to Fantasy Flight Games who reissued it as BL2 with a much more streamlined Game set in their Terrinoth Game World as BL2. It really is a Great Game in the Command & Colors style.FFG dumped it in favor of a Table Top Game with the same theme which sank without a trace.
