Elder Sign
FFG again expanding (Milking)The Mythos this time with a die Game
http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_n...?eidn=2349 I dislike die Games but then its Lovecraft & it looks cool with a nice price. It sounds like AH Light. OD Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,— Wailing for the lost one that comes not again: |

I, too, am not terribly interested in dice games, but when done right they can be alright. It's tough sate the theme-hungry like me with dice... w. |

RE: Elder Sign
This game is definitely on my to buy list.
Pedigree (Kevin Wilson and Richard Launius) - Check Component Quality (FFG) - Check Theme (Lovecraft) - Check Learning curve (Shallower than AH, so family will probably like it) - Check Star Alignment (Right) - Check Geometry (Non-Euclidean) - Check I could go on... LOL |

RE: Elder Sign
Well we just finished up the Hive Mission from GoW & I'm doing a Sessions report.
So I thought it would be a good time to Try Elder Sign as I can set it up on the coffee table in my Den while GoW is still on my game table. I'm trying a Game solo, using Mike McGlenn as the Inv. and drew Yig as my GOO. I'm just starting the 6th turn, due to die rolling to complete Tasks the turns take longer that the usual GoW turn. The game is straight forward & of course very Luck of the roll driven but you can play items to help you & each Inv.has a special ability that also helps. I'm working on a few home rules that will make it harder for a Solo Player, mainly by making Monster placement & Inv. movement random. It's set in a Museum but that's rather generic,so you could make it any type of structure anywhere.I'm playing the current Game in an abandoned Hospital, that McGlenn is checking out as a possible warehouse for his bootlegging operations. No monster encounters yet but so far a Hound,Elder Thing & a Vampire are lurking around. What they have to do with Yig is questionable as like AH the Monsters often have no relation to the Games GOO.I may try to create a GOO specific Monster Cup when I get more familar with the Game. But all in all it a fun Game. OD PS the Inv.Tokens are needlessly small,I'm using the AH prepaint fig. PSS-I just finished my first Game it took 11 Turns but I got 10 Elder Signs on Yig & won.The Doom Track was at 5 (out of 8) so he was getting close to waking up. RE: Elder Sign
The more I play Elder Sign the more I like it.Shub-Niggurath is brutal.
I had a Game set in a closed Poor House(Alms House)-(I did a lot of Fluff to generate random Locations,& specific Adventure Sights & to flesh out what a Terror,Lore,Peril were). First Sister Mary goes insane & then Ashcan Pete goes insane,so this generates a 3 Inv.Game (more of my Fluff) so Joe Diamond goes insane, followed by Bob Jenkins and then Ashcan wakes up Shub-Niggurath & last 3 rounds. Alms House & several blocks of Newark are no more. I never seem to roll the 1 die I needed! OD Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,— Wailing for the lost one that comes not again: |

Just picked up Elder Sign, my first Cthulhu themed game and am looking forward to playing it tonight. The components are great and have beautiful artwork.

RE: Elder Sign
Sadly, I traded away this game after 2 plays. It felt like Lovecraftian Yahtzee.... It's not a bad game but I was expecting a little bit more.
