Midnight & OD
It all started in complete innocence,FFG announced
it had a new Game in the works called Runewars. & from there things began to snowball. It was a 200+ fig game with modular tiles ,4 Fractions + Neutrals.Build your territory, raise armies ,Heroes go on Quest. In short the type of thing I'm a sucker for,so it's set in the FFG world of Runebound. Runebound, popular FFG Game with 4 Major Expansions that I never really checked out ,actually it has a ton of small Card Deck expansions so I thought it was a CCG & never bothered further. However, with Runewars as a motivator & check out Runebound & saw it was an Adventure like ME Quest.I decided to pick it up along with a few card deck expansions thinking it would be fun to play & possibly provide some background to Runewars. It turned out to be a great Solo Game & BGG provided some interesting variants. So far so good but alas now I'm rather hooked on the Game & begin to check out it's Big Box Expansions. I discover Midnight the 1st Expansion,it's not set in the Runebound world like the base game & other expansions-no it's set in the world of the Midnight RPG. Midnight is set in a world where Evil has won & the Heroes are just trying to stave off the final triumph of the shadow. It's somewhat Horror meets Fantasy,Tolkien & HPL together at last.I want this!Problem it's OoP & with no chance of it being reissued. But I want this!!! I check out the people that want to Trade their copy on BGG, but I either don't have what they want or even if I do they won't trade. Some guy in S.Korea has one for sale (like that's gonna to happen)Then Troll & Toad the company I love to hate offers one up for $104 & then on ebay for $114- hey I want this but I don't need this! Then suddenly a copy comes up on Ebay with no reserve & only 1 bidder trying to low ball.I jump on it for $19.& put in a reserve bid going up to the original price of the Game. It's a 5 day auction & on the 3rd day I get out bid.So I rebid & set a new max at $55.The 5th day (the auction is up at 9:30PM) a new push gets the cost up to $46.So from about 8PM on I watch the auction count down figuring in the last minute their gonna try again..they didn't & I WON!Probably what helped was that another copy of the game still in shrink was offered about a day later so there were other options besides the copy I was bidding on. That copy went the next day for $30 more than I paid for mine. My copy arrived Yesterday & its now on the Table-oh to better understand the Midnight background I found a copy of the RPG 1st edition cheap & a couple of the source books. No wounder I can't retire. So this is my Thankgiving Gaming. OD Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,— Wailing for the lost one that comes not again: |

Doctor D Wrote:so how much games do you have? I'm not really sure probably around 300:rolleyes: thats Board Games & around a 1000 pained figs (& 2000 unpainted ones:shy: )Mostly stuff for WH Quest,LoTR,Hyborian-Archeron vs Hybori & The Royal Hyborian Age (Conan's time). I also have an Age of Napoleon & an American War for Independence projects ready to paint but i'm just out of a painting mood-I finished up my Royal Hyborian Age 6mm figs late last year (it was a 2 year priject) & it sort of painted me out. But it keeps me out of pool halls OD Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,— Wailing for the lost one that comes not again: |

Hoarders?...well in a way,I do have games I'll probably never play again:rolleyes:But than again any Hobby promotes the collection of whatever it is that makes up the Hobby.Fishing Lures,Golf Clubs, Stamps. I get a lot of enjoyment out of pulling out an old game & just reading its rules.Plus I tend to go in cycles, sometimes getting back in an historical wargame mood or trying SiFi. RE: Midnight & OD
Wow, this has turned quickly into an intervention. I think you might be able to get Flying frog to be a sponsor, but they might get a little angry when they realize they've been pulled into a rather awkward pun.... (at which point they will get pictures of all of us and photo shop us into zombies, which will finally explain how the zombie outbreak occurred).
