So as there's little to do in total darkness (well not at my age) so I napped for a couple of hours.
Still no power so I brought out some battery powered lanterns & read some more Lovecraft
(which was actually a very cool experience).

The power came back after midnight so my sleep schedule was messed up; watched TV for a couple of
hours & finally went to bed.

Sunday was no better same wet/dark dreary day so nothing to inspire me to paint. Today (Monday)
is alas no better & this crappy weather is expected to be around until Wednesday.

Hopefully I'll remaining mood until then .

I would get all your models out you want to paint and get inspired about how cool it will be to play with them all painted up. I tend to paint around 6 at a time but there's nothing wrong with just focusing on one special character. Every hour you spend painting you are step closer to finishing a project.

Happy painting, I find my favourite music (rock) or listening to blogs quite fun too. One I love at the moment is a guy called Kitboga he's a scam baiter and it's hilarious! I also enjoy the Dungeon Dive, Always Board Never Boring and Rob's Tabletop World for gaming vlogs.

RE: OD Returns Again
That's how I usually paint & this time it's fairly easy with only 6 figs in the project.
Having the rest of my Black figs already painted up is a good incentive to finish
these figs.

RE: OD Returns Again
I'm painting up 6 Zombie Orcs from Green Horde for Black Plague. These
Orcs represent part of the Orc Garrison that were killed in taking the city.
(1 GH Spawn card has been included in the BP Game).

BP has one rebel orc hero which I painted the skin a monster brown
(I hate green Orcs) so I used monster brown as a base mixed with
uniform grey & Necro flesh. This produced a rather tannish skin so
I'll dry brush it with ash grey & a bit more Neco fesh.

The Orcs are dressed in tattered tunics which I'm painting a dull red
& the armor bits a mixture of dull silver & bronze.

The Orcs tribal markings are black jaws & black stripes on the chest & back.

The skin just got its monster brown mix so in my next session I'll do a wash & then dry brushing.

RE: OD Returns Again
Finished up the skin using a strong tone wash & then an ash Grey*
dry brush & finally mixing the ash grey with Neco flesh & dry brushing.

I also used fang bone on the couple of figs that showed bone bits through the flesh.
*( I'm using warmaster paints)

I'm also surprised on how my brushes have survived there in very good shape better
than I remembered them from my last project. I guess the down time did them good.

Next step will be the tunics.

RE: OD Returns Again
AGGGGG!!!!! My artist light died. I went down to my painting station to
do the orc's tunics & the light would not come on. The lighting in the
basement is fine except for detailed painting work.

I took a small table & moved directly under a celling light bulb but it
was too high to get a good effect but it was the best I could do.

The Orcs have ripped tunics which made for a lot of detail work &
trying to determine what was cloth & what was armor bits was a pain.

I used a mix of abomination red & blood red to give a worn dullish look,
later I'll give it a medium wash to further the look.

Next up will be the armor ( most of the figs have some metal bits) & then
the leather bits (sandals/bags/straps) but first I'll need to fix my painting
table light.

RE: OD Returns Again
Just when you thought it was safe to paint! Is it just the case of getting a new bulb or has the table lamp died? Good luck with the repairs, I'd be lost without mine.

It sounds like the orcs are coming on well. I always leave my metallics until last too.Zombie17

RE: OD Returns Again
The Lamp is shot so I need to replace it hopefully today. I can't really continue painting
without one.

RE: OD Returns Again
I picked up a desk lamp it's a LED & cheap, but it was the only thing the store had & I
didn't want to wait for a delivery on an online purchase.

A real step down from my artist light but it does the job. I was able to paint the leather bits
& I also had to do touchups on the tunics as I didn't have proper lighting the first go around.

I'll need to do a wash to bring out the leather straps & then the metal bits.

RE: OD Returns Again
I put washes on the Tunics & leather parts so it's the metal bits left.
I'm also going to do a few highlights on the tunics & leather. I want
to keep the down & dirty look but a few highlights will help the figs to "pop"

In the real world we're putting covers on the patio furniture as prep for winter
begins.

I may get a chance to do the metal bits today but I'm not sure.

OD

PS- did more than expected. The metal bits are done & a wash applied, so tomorrow I do some highlights.
