RE: The Walking Dead Board Game-The Best Defense
You nailed it right there soundguy. If someone called and said "Oh god its a Zombie" you bet your ass i'd find a weapon before leaving the room. Currently i'm at work, so it's limited to Ninja Throwing Laptops, Coatrack Polearm and a Bloas made of mice, but still...

She woke up-Todays Project is the Porch, scraping off a Century worth of paint from
Victorian Gingerbread is the pitts, painting the damn stuff is Hell.

But to Topic, yes the Game doesn't let you fight an unarmed combat (unless Michonne)
is the Leader. You start by giving each Survivor 1 Random equipment Card but a lot
of the equipment isn't weapons. At least 1 survivor starts with a loaded weapon (Rick).

The separation of the Equipment Resource which is where the weapons are & the Ammo
Resource is a bit unrealistic (perhaps some sort of a County ordinance) but them is de Rules.

Still I like the Game the more I play it the more you understand the options that can
help you avoid the bad effects of Event Cards.

if everyone starts with an item, that does make it better. hard to believe you could be any time into a zed apoc and be empty handed and still alive.

it may be that in the group may are the supply carriers and you are down to only a few weapons. that is certaintly believeable.

the ammo and guns seperate still seems odd to me. Watchmen02

RE: The Walking Dead Board Game-The Best Defense
Well I had my quarterly Game Room Purge this AM. I had left this Game out on my
Table weeks ago after losing again after a few moves so I packed it up.

I must say sg observations are correct unless your Survivor starts off with a weapon/ammo
your on the short road to toast.

I really like the Game but the ability to acquire weapons /Ammo just makes things way too
Luck dependent. The separation of Ammo & weapons just makes things worst. I
think a good House Rule would be to combine the Equipment & Ammo Deck.

Something to work on.

Yup.. having ammo and guns seperate is odd. And when I say seperate.. I don't mean something normal, like the rifle is inthe case and the ammo is in shelf under the case. In that game. ammo is in a different location entirely!

ammo is useless without a gun. gun is useless without ammo.

having guns and ammo split is horrid for the character.. not starting with a gun with ammo is rough too!

My wife and I have played this game about 5 times. Almost won once. Every other play was a slaughter. I just want to beat the damn thing once. Then I'll be happy.

Yeah the lack of a starting weapon/melee is difficult, but that's part of the strategy. We usually camp at the EQ deck until a weapon is found unless Michonne is on the board.

Welcome to TZG ,ZC-I had Michonne on board & still got trashed. Although
I did last longer with her.
