WD might be my favorite comic book of all time, right up there with Goon. I didn't even know about it until last year's SDCC, and I was up to my eyeballs in it. WOW! Got several of the trades to catch up, and haven't regretted it at all.

Like any good zombie media, it's less about the teeming dead and more about how people treat each other in the face of adversity...compelling stuff when you look at it that way.

Kirkman is at once sensitive and unflinching, which seems like it would be tough to do for a six book series, let along ten times that. Kudos.
