Me too! I read in a different thread that you can download a program called GIMP for free that will let you make the cards from the templates in the downloads section, but I haven't tried it yet. I don't know how easy it is to learn.

If some savvy graphics guy could do a short tutorial (in the same vain as SamuraiTrev's sweet painting tutorials), that would be really cool.

You only need GIMP to have layers. I have Photoshop, but I'm sure its the same. In this case it would be the Hero Template card on one, and the picture on another. The picture would be the bottom layer. That's all you would use it for. Use text tool. Badda-bing!

For this type of project, it's really easy and you shoudln't have any trouble. Don't get intimated before you even start!

Thanks for the summary D#D. I couldn't have asked for a more "savvy graphics guy" than you to answer (you are who I had in mind when I typed that in the first place). If all you need is the free GIMP sw to do this, I guess I have no excuse.

After a quick search this simple tutorial should cover everything you will use to create a hero template. She kind of rambles on, but you can see everything she does with layer management and text placement.
