Definitely sounds like a cool idea. I mean, it wouldn't be quite the same as playing physically on a board in front of you with other people who are physically in front of you. Plus, as much of a dork as this will probably make me sound, getting to see and touch the game pieces, cards, board, scenarios, etc. is part of the fun and excitement to me. LOL!
But, this definitely sounds like a really fun idea, and a neat way for a bunch of us to get to play a game with each other despite being so far apart.

The difference in time comes to mind here. Probably the same reason I almost never got to mlay with you guys back in the day when we wanted to play on xbox.
But it sure seems doable to me.
Maybe each player can set up the board in real life and just move the pieces around. Like you would play long distance chess
Ofcourse then you would have to make sure everyone plays with exactly the same pieces and there has to be a way to figure out picking up the cards.
Zombieplayer is no problem.
Maybe some soet of dungeonmaster for the heroes?
This person picks a card for each hero and then tells them (in secret) wich one it is so that the player who is actualy playing can pick that card out of his stack at home.

Yeah I mean maybe we could get a US east coast game and US west coast and Europe. You wouldn't have to play at that time if another group time was more to your schedule.

I would agree. That sounds like it would probably be the easiest/fairest way to do it.
