Honestly, in my recent plays (just core and SW), I haven't felt that the cards from SW brought in any distinctive changes to the Shadowbrook locations.

That said, I feel to focus of Echo Lake is a lot more dangerous than that of Shadowbrook. There seems like there is a lot more peril involved. The Forgotten Island totally destroyed our party. I don't think a single one of us made it out of there without being KO'ed. The Inn seems more troublesome than not. and the monastery, well the Crimson Hand obviously set up this place as a front, because every other card is Make a X test, if failed you are attacked by the Crimson Hand.

I have not played the Coast yet so maybe your question presents itself better in the added game play there. I shall soon find out.
