HeroQuest 25th Anniversary.
For anyone that hasn't noticed yet the delayed HQ kickstarter went live earlier today. I'm not too sure I'll be getting in on this one but thought some here would be interested.

Me too. I look back to when I last played it...

6 days ago. I introduced it to some of the kids I teach at school they loved it. Some of 'em are going out and buying models and wanting to start painting. I've had parents asking me where to get games and figures from. I think Hero Quest is still relevant today. Especially for the younger adventurers. Hey I must be an young 'cos I enjoyed playing the game and sharing it with a new generation!

Maybe I have rose tinted specs on but I think a new audience could enjoy this. Think of the expansions... And for those who have a special place in their hearts for the original maybe this could be well worth a look.

I have crumbled. I am no longer a Kickstarter virgin

It looks awesome I've gotta have it... I went for the $158 pledgeWatchmen02

+1 rep.
I can do that, right?

Would it be fair to say that HeroQuest is a more casual version of Descent?

Yes & Yes-HQ uses a Single Board rather than tiles. The
different Missions show you how to set up the Board.

I own both games and that is a fair approximation. I've had a lot more fun and enjoyment out of Hero Quest and the games don't take half a day. (like Descent). Am I saying Hero Quest is a better game?
For me personally, yes.
Better miniatures, back story, mission intros, dungeon furniture (how cool?), learning curve, accessability for gamers young or old, fast set up time.

Don't get me wrong I like the fact Descent has corridor and room sections (much like Space Hulk and Advanced Hero Quest) but the game is strongly in the overlord's favour. I hear this has been fixed with Descent 2nd Edition. I wanted to like Descent so much but the mechanics just didn't suit me.

Hero Quest IS more simple and perhaps not for the veteran who demands more of a challenge i.e play for hours and get repeatedly battered.

What I'm trying to say is just because somethings a bit straight forward I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes I want a quick game in an hour. Or maybe play 2 quests in a couple of hours.

Using Last Night on Earth as a benchmark of 10
I would give Hero Quest a solid 8
Descent 6

Hero Quest 25 ed. has 50+ quests too!

Hope this helps, Ilike to ramble...

:EDIT:
2 more stretch goal have just been smashed. 6 extra equipment cards and a captive assassin miniature. There's gonna be more stuff to come.
GET ON THIS BANDWAGON!!!
