OD Returns Again
In the last 3 years my Mountain of Shame has grown as my desire
to paint has been in Limbo.

But as often happens with me it can suddenly flare upWatchmen02
Last night I was thinking of replaying Paths of Glory(WWI) using
the CDG Solo System I just got.

However this morning I turned to COMON's Black Plague Game
that I fully painted up 7 years ago. I had rethemed the Game
for the OoP RP Game Midnight (Age of Shadow). I haven't
really played it much since however I've come around to
BP again & in checking out my BP tp Midnight stuff I noticed
I never did anything with the Lost ( I did paint up 2 headless
figs for a Special Mission but never did convert the Spectral
Walker figs from the Something Wicked Expansion of Green Horde
,althought I do have the Cards that convert them from the
Massive Darkness Game to BP.

So I've decided to paint the 6 Spectral Walker figs up as the Lost*
& amended my BP to Midnight rules to include the possibility
of Lost encounters. Hopefully after years of neglect my paint pots
are still functional.

* The Lost are strong willed individuals who died violent
deaths & were so traumatized that their lust for vengeance freed
their spirits from their bodies. So unlike the Fell they are not
decaying Zombies but rather incorporeal spirits blocked by
The Sundering of Izador from the Celestial Realm.

So I'm descending to my Paint Station to clear out the cobwebs,
check my paint pots & see if my base coat spray is still functional.
Then I can begin a modest project of painting up 6 figs.

OD

PS- I pulled out the Spectral Walkers I thought only needed 6 figs BUT
in reviewing the 2 Encounter Cards it's possible to have 15 on the board
The Something Wicked Box Expansion has 18 so I'm just going to paint up
all of them.

Hurrah!!! Glad to hear it. I wish that you could fathom the intricacies of technology and share the pics. yet alas I suspect it will not come to pass.

Happy painting old friend (handshake)Watchmen02

RE: OD Returns Again
Wooo!!!! Congrats on getting back into it! Also, WOW, you completed painting Black Plague? That's a herculean task! Nice going, even if it was a while ago. Must be oh so satisfying to use those minis.

Funnily enough, I haven't painted in at least 9 months myself (maybe longer), and yet also pulled out some figures to get things going this week too. Maybe it's the change in weather sparking a desire for productivity. Watchmen02 Resumed work on Marvel United myself, and now a have a grand total of 10/207 minis painted... lol, I really doubt I'll ever fully complete this particular project. It's one of my favorite games, but every character is incredibly detailed and takes like an hour for me to get through. I knocked out most of the Spider-crew this last week, and will probably continue to push to finish crowd favorites and recognizable characters. Meanwhile, I doubt every 3rd tier X-Men character I haven't read about before will get my attention. I would love to get to painting Zombicide Invader. Someone sold a fully painted copy online recently and I was drooling at the colorful display.

RE: OD Returns Again
Perhaps premature for Congrats just yet. I've dish lotion washed & tooth brushed the Spectral Walkers so their
ready for undercoating. I also updated my Age of Shadow AI to include them in the Game,

My paint pots have survived fairly well & I found a can of Flat white spray primer so once I overcome my
fear of base coating it's a go( a few years ago I had all my BattleLore 2 figs ruined by spray base coating
& it has really spooked me).

RE: OD Returns Again
I finally overcame my fear of spray base coating & did the Spectral Walkers. They came out fine.
Actually, the white base coat may not need additional paint & just a green wash but I'm thinking
of a greyish/white paint job with a green wash & a white dry brush & then red for the eyes.

RE: OD Returns Again
Today I finished Stage #2 of the Spectral Walkers. I had an old pot of a sort of greyish white
that's so old the label has faded off so I tried it out on the Walkers & it worked. The next stage
is using a Green Wash & then dry brushing them with a pure white paint. I'm thinking of
giving the eyes a glowing red effect.

I did find my paint station is not in the best shape as I need to put my pots back in order so
they don't overwhelm my painting space. My brushes aren't really up to a major paint project.
The BIG problem is lighting I had a goose neck artist lamp which had been OK a week ago but
now is shot & requires 2 specialized light tubes & massive screw driver work to even get to
replacing those lamps. I also had a spot light fixture but that's shot as well.

Luckly the Spectral workers didn't require detail work although I may have to jerryrig
a better light source if I do the eyes.

RE: OD Returns Again
Stage #2 check! I did a Green Wash slightly deluded & it went OK.
Lighting however is still a problem but as I was only applying a wash I didn't
have any trouble.

Probably the white dry brushing will be OK but if I do the eyes red then I'll
need to bring the figs upstairs to the Game Room so I can see to do detail
work.

RE: OD Returns Again
The white dry brushing is done, when I went down to my paint station to
start I found my artist light was on so that helped. After I finished I turned
it off & then back on & of course it didn't light.

I'll try the eyes tomorrow as my fine detail brush seem to be up for the job.
I can't find any gloss varnish so I think I'll just a matt varnish ( if it test out
as OK-it's several years old).

RE: OD Returns Again
The Eyes have it!, I did the eyes this AM thanks to my magnifier goggles ,Insane Detail Brush
and the fact that the artist light worked. The eyes are really small & the position of the
heads in a couple of the poses (there are 3 different poses) were a challenge.

I nail about half on the first try & the other half needed a little white touch up. Tomorrow
I'll do the bases grey & a lighter shade of grey as a dry brush.

I usually let completed figs set for a week before I spray varnish & then the project is done.
I guess the next sept would be to get out ZBP & play a game(its been several years).

RE: OD Returns Again
I had some time yesterday afternoon, so I painted the bases Uniform Grey & discovered that the white base coat
didn't like it. So I just left them to dry.

This AM I did a 2nd coat & all was well so, tomorrow I'll dry brush the Ash Grey. Unlike Sam my bases are plain
& I use the same color of the Game Tiles/board. Thus for BP it's grey to match the city tiles. If I ever paint up
Green Horde I do the bases Green.

My artist light again cooperated so maybe it was just rusty for not being used for a few years.
