Super Dungeon Explore
Any opinions?

Im really trying to find one more "new" surprise for my family for Xmas thats not just an expansion. Something totally different.

Not to mention we dont have a DnD or medieval fantasy board game yet.

RE: Super Dungeon Explore
Its GREAT fun. It has some quirky rules that can be hard to wrap your head around (largely due to layout issues, one might say). I'd say it's a more complicated and strategic game than LNOE, but certainly in the same "family".

It is a bit pricey though.

RE: Super Dungeon Explore
I had to pass on this one. I loved putting the miniatures together but once it got to game play I was very "meh" about it. I highly prefer Descent 2.0 over SDE

RE: Super Dungeon Explore
sorry, I meant re-playability
Also, I am wondering how customizable this is.
I mean can one make tiles and new heroes/monsters easily so that the rules work with everything smoothly and balanced?

RE: Super Dungeon Explore
thanks MQS, I was hoping.
SDE seems very limited as to the tiles they offer.

RE: Super Dungeon Explore
The tiles aren't terribly important, actually. There's just "clear space" "not usable space/wall" and "lava". Most things have long enough movements or ranges that it just doesn't matter throughout most of the game.

Also note that tiles are selected and not randomly drawn -- so printing your own is easier.

RE: Super Dungeon Explore
Thats interesting, So it more of the actual monsters than anything that affect the game then?

Yep. The models (characters/monsters) and the loot cards drawn.
