A Fist Full of Dark Stone
I hope to start my first SoB Game tomorrow. It will be Solo
to learn the Rules & using the Rule Book Intro Game on p.9. I'm using 2 Heroes The Female Rancher Deliah Morgan as I wanted to get her into the mines in payback for giving me a hassle in painting her up & The Bandito Luis Olivears as he went with the back story(the names are an old flame & an old friend). Note that the dates are different from the Brimstone Story given by FFP. I use my own Time line set about 20 years earlier so that it would cover some actual historical events. The towns mentioned & Pah-Ute County all existed at the time. "How Deliah Morgan saved the Ranch" The Back Story May 15,1867 Long Horn Saloon, Callville ,Arizona Territory " Can I help you Miss Morgan? ' Hello Sam, I'm looking for a Luis Oliveras I heard he hangs out here. "That's him over at the table by the stairs the hombre with the sombrero. He's bad medicine Miss Morgan" I certainly hope so Sam . Here buy yourself a beer on me. You Luis Oliveras? "Si, What can I do for the lovely Senorita?" First of all the name is Miss Morgan & secondly you can ask me to sit down we have business to discuss. "Please have a seat Por Favor, Miss Morgan what is your pleasure?" I have a job that needs doing & I need a man who will do anything to get it done. Can you handle something like that? Seno.......Miss Morgan, from my childhood in Mexicali I was known as a person who would do anything. Why my dear Madre use to say I would be the death of her as I would do anything. In a way she was right but it really wasn't my fault my pet rattlesnake decided to rest in her bed...." Oliveras spare me the your fond childhood reminiscence , you interested in hearing about the job? "I'm all ears Miss Morgan" Here's the deal, I own the Rocking R Ranch & my herd has been hit with hoof & mouth disease I've lost 2/3 of my cattle. I borrowed from the bank to buy that stock & now there won't be enough profit to cover the loan when I sell. " So you want me to blow up the bank, I'm good at that." No just listen, I need to get my hands on some money before the loan is due next month to avoid losing the Ranch & I know where I can get some Dark Stone but I need back up to go into the mine. "Caramba!! those mine are the devil's own, your loco. So your not interested from what I was told about you I didn't think you would turn tail. " No Miss Morgan, I would do this thing you ask but you must make it worth my while. What's in it for me? Your asking me to risk much, how do you know where this Dark Stone is located.?" My Uncle was working in Mine #14 the day of the explosion they had just loaded a cart full of Dark Stone Shards when all Hell broke loose. Most of his crew died on the spot my Uncle got out but was horribly mutated from the blast. I took care of him but he died 2 weeks later but before he died he gave me directions to locate that cart of Dark Stone. You help me get to it & you'll share in the Shards, you know how much that stuff is worth, it will make you rich. "Rich if I live, but as you say worth it, Miss Morgan we have a deal. Shall we have a drink to celebrate out partnership?" Let's not , meet me at Rocking R Ranch tomorrow daybreak . Sam the bartender can give you directions if you need them. Oh one more thing try to double cross me & I'll see you dead in Hell. "Senori..Miss Morgan...I'm hurt Luis Oliveras does not take advantage of women. I may be many things but I have a sense of honor." Glad to hear it, tomorrow morning Sunrise. Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain,— Wailing for the lost one that comes not again: |
